One-Hundred Facts on a Saturday Morning.

1.        I’m a science nerd.

2.       I like to dissect things.

3.       Once, I exploded an egg in my microwave.

4.       I hit my neighbor’s house with my car.

5.       I wear heels so often that my feet actually cramp up when I wear sneakers.

6.       When I was little, I used to pretend that Scrooge McDuck was my imaginary friend.

7.       I love to go to the beach, but I won’t go in the water because I’m afraid to swim with the fish.

8.       I will chew you out if I find out that you don’t wear your seatbelt – I don’t care who you are, or how much older than me you happen to be.

9.       In my opinion, the color orange is the most horrible color there is.

10.   I pronounce the word “horrible” as “harrible”.  I don’t know why.

11.   I love to go fishing with my dad.  Actually, I like to sit on his boat and read, while he fishes.  But it’s the same thing, in my book.

12.   I am a morning person.  I’d rather get up at 5 am to study than stay up past 11 o’clock at night.

13.   I love to garden.

14.   Someday, I want to become a nurse practitioner.  In part, this is because NPs can wear dresses and heels to work.  I am really not looking forward to wearing scrubs.

15.   I do not want to work in a hospital.

16.   In general, I don’t like dogs.

17.   I don’t like cats, either.

18.   I walk on my tip-toes.

19.   When I was little, I wanted to change my name to ‘Katherine’.

20.   I love classic films.

21.   Two of the most upsetting things people tell me are that I am ‘good’ or ‘put-together’.  Do not say these things about me, or I will be secretely upset with you for a long time.

22.   I wanted to be a spy.

23.   I also wanted to be a writer.

24.   And a professional singer.

25.   I want to sky-dive.

26.   I also want to learn to fly airplanes.

27.   Moose are one of my favorite animals.  I’m not sure why.

28.   Elephants are my favorite animal.

29.   I took a black-and-white photography class once.  I really miss developing my own prints.

30.   I abhor winter.

31.   Someday, if I have children, I want to adopt a baby. 

32.   If given the opportunity to go back and do things over again, I think I might choose to go to college farther away from home.

33.   I am horrible with money.

34.   I am horrible with math.

35.   I am a judge for Odyssey of the Mind.

36.   I live in a village that’s claim-to-fame is that Jell-O was invented there. 

37.   I hate Jell-O.

38.   I like my dog.  She’s my favorite walking partner.

39.   I talk to myself.  A lot.

40.   I’m easily distracted.

41.   I’m a perfectionist.

42.   One of the only things I remember about my grandpa is that he used to call me “Dear”.

43.   I miss my grandpa.

44.   I am terrified that my sisters and I will drift apart as we get older.

45.   I am terrified I’ll end up like my mother.

46.   I am terrified I’ll end up divorced, if I ever am lucky enough to get married in the first place.

47.   I want to get married.

48.   Rain makes me happy.

49.   The sound of the wind blowing, outside my windows at night, makes me feel safe.

50.   When I’m stressed out, I like to go sit at the beach.

51.   I like to collect sea-glass.

52.   I cannot wait to have my own house.

53.   When I get my own house, I want Jen and Susan to help me decorate it.

54.   The screen-saver on my laptop is comprised of photos I’ve downloaded from nationalgeographic.com.

55.   I like the pictures of people better than the pictures of animals or landscapes.

56.   I love to read.

57.   I love to write.

58.   I love post-it notes.

59.   My favorite book of the Bible is Psalms.

60.   My favorite story in the Bible is the one in Mark 5, where Jesus heals a demon-possesed man and sends all his demons into a herd of pigs.

61.   I like to sing hymns.

62.   I wish I knew more hymns.

63.   I am happiest around my sisters.

64.   When I get angry, I sometimes curse.

65.   I’m honestly really tired of being in school.

66.   I have given serious thought to dropping out.

67.   I have to convince myself not to drop out on a semi-regular basis.

68.   I’m tired of not having a social life because all my spare time has to be devoted to studying.

69.   I really hate Microbiology.

70.   It would be nice to live on a farm, I think.

71.   Sometimes, I wish I was adopted.

72.   Sometimes, I think I really was adopted, because I’m so different from the rest of my family.

73.   A lot of my friends are older than I am.

74.   A lot of my friends are younger than I am.

75.   I hate wearing socks.

76.   When I was little, I was forbidden to wear nail polish because my dad thought it looked trashy.  I still can’t make myself wear polish on my fingernails, but I love to wear bright red polish on my toes.

77.   In three years, I have changed my major four times.

78.   Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.  It’s also the meal I usually end up skipping.

79.   Rhythym is something I definitely lack – I can’t sing and clap at the same time.

80.   Faux fur on anything pretty much drives me insane.

81.   Sundays are my favorite day of the week.

82.   I consider staying in bed until 7:30 a.m. to be sleeping in.

83.   Given a choice, I’d pick a potted plant over a bouquet of flowers. 

84.   Once, I grew a weed (the kind that grows in your garden, not the kind you smoke) in a pot in my bedroom for 6 months, convinced it was a flower and holding out for it to bloom.

85.   I am not allowed to mow the lawn, because, at 21 years old, my mother is still convinced I’ll run my toes over.

86.   I’d love to be fluent in Spanish.  I’m not anywhere close to it, though.

87.   I am a germophobe.  Don’t ask me to eat off of anything you’ve touched.  And don’t ask to eat off of my plate, either. 

88.   Most of the time, I can swallow pills without water.

89.   I can’t study if there’s music playing.

90.   I can’t sleep if there’s music playing, either.

91.   My feet are really big and I wish God had given me smaller ones.

92.   I rarely watch television.

93.   Last Christmas, I saw It’s a Wonderful Life for the first time. 

94.   Crows make me nervous.

95.   I had a pet mouse once, and I named him Guadaloupe Hidalgo. 

96.   Due to my roommate, I’m starting to like Country music.

97.   I know the military alphabet.

98.   Chapstick is necessary for life, in my opinion.

99.   “Strawberry” is pronounced “Strawburry” if I’m the one saying it.

100. I am semi-obsessed with storing and organizing things.  I love boxes.

Hey, Melissa,
That’s so cool that you’re a judge for Odyssey of the Mind. I participated from like 5th grade all the way through high school and I loved it. It’s something I hope my kids might be able to participate in as well. I’d love to hear more about your judging…

now that was a fun post..where in the world did you get the idea for this one? ;-) you really need to get a group together and come to our next Applejam (music festival)..early September.(You’ll be able to check out our farm and see if you’d really like it.)

Oh! and the one who said you were “put together” is a germ freak too. Have you noticed the hand sanitizer? The military alphabet is interesting. Makes me think I should have included knowing the pledge in Latin on my list.
